32-0 for silver champion

Vanes Martirosyan punished out-of-depth veteran Troy Lowry on the undercard of the huge double-header featrunig Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Nonito Donaire in world title fights at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The WBC silver light-middleweight champion, 25, was leagues above the 41 year-old, who lacked the boxing skills to keep a fiery Martirosyan off as he continually landed with clean head shots, putting Lowry down in the first and third.

The referee eventually saved Lowry at the end of the third round as Martirosyan warmed-up for his WBC title eliminator against the winner of next month’s bout involving James Kirkland and Carlos Molina.

The matchmaking in this match-up was questionable as Lowry was clearly inferior in every department to Martirosyan and ended up a bloody mess after just under nine minutes in the ring with the Armenia-born American.
