Shane Cameron on fighting David Haye and the Klitschko’s

New Zealander eyes world title

Cruiserweight-turned heavyweight contender Shane Cameron is willing to fight recent sparring partner David Haye if it means getting his considerably-sized hands on the world title in future.

The 34 year-old demolished Monte Barrett in just four rounds earlier this month and hopes that the performance will lead to offers to face some of the bigger names in the division after improving to 29-2 with his 22nd stoppage.

“I was always confident in beating Monty. I knew once I landed the right shot he would go down,” Cameron told World Boxing News.

“Next, I would love a shot at one of the Klitschko's and I am willing to face either of them anytime, anywhere!”

The ‘Mountain Warrior’ had been preparing with David Haye as both fighters trained to face their respective July opponents and Cameron stated that he has no problem in fighting the Briton if a world title is at stake.

“I knew that Haye would destroy Chisora and you never know in boxing who you may fight,” said Cameron.

“I want to fight for the world title so whether it’s Haye or the Klitschko’s, I will fight anyone for it.

“Hopefully I will fight again before the year ends.”

Jay WBN Editor ‘Suavecito’ scores 20th straight win over Shimoda Undefeated Californian Rico Ramos produced a world-class left hand in the seventh round of his WBA title challenge against Japan’s Akifumi Shimoda to rip the belt away from the older southpaw in his first defence. The 24 year-old looked far from a world champion in the first five rounds, only gaining a foothold in the fight in round six, but ultimately produced the equalizer in the seventh to take the crown. Shimoda, 26, will be furious with himself as he bossed the majority of the fight and was up five rounds to one on my card going into the seventh round.
