Former Light-Welterweight Champ faces another blow

Things seem to get worse for Britain’s former two-time world champion Ricky Hatton after the British Boxing Board of Control revoked his license to box.

After a sustained period of inactivity and amidst public revelations about the Hitman’s private affairs, it has been decided that the decision would be best for all parties.

A BBBofC statement today read: "Mr Ricky Hatton MBE was legally represented at a hearing held by the stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control on Wednesday 22 September 2010 to answer charges of bringing boxing into disrepute which had been reported widely across the media.

"At the hearing, the board found Ricky Hatton guilty of misconduct in that his actions and behaviour were detrimental to the interests of boxing and to the public interest and that he had brought the sport into disrepute.

"Ricky Hatton is not an active boxer and his current physical condition is such that the Board decided to withdraw his boxer's licence."

Hatton is currently seeking help in his bid to get back to full mental and physical fitness.

The “Gypsy Boy” then managed to string together a four fight unbeaten run together in early 1999 and ended the year winning five out of his twelve contests, but by this time had already delved into the journeyman pool of boxers with a record of 5-8-1. After settling at the welterweight limit, Ernie ga...
