The returning Mosley, who initially announced his retirement on the back of a loss to Saul Alvarez in May of last year, was asked whether his portion of any protracted deal was official and the American was forthcoming in his response this afternoon. “Nothing is signed yet. The ‘Magic Man’ is reported to be close to agreeing the fight with Mosley, which would see the New Yorker put his belt on the line for the second time since dethroning Vyacheslav Senchenko in April of last year. The 32 year-old, who is himself a world champion at two weight divisions, was hoping to face old rival Ricky Hatton in the coming months until the ‘Hitman’ was beaten in his November comeback – ironically by Senchenko. The 32 year-old eight-time world champion was largely kept from his usual sparkling style by the wiley veteran Shane Mosley. It looks from a journalistic point of view, that the majority of boxing writers are counting the days till this fight happens, so they can brush it aside and concentrate on trying to get Floyd “Money” Mayweather to step back in the ring, for the fight of our generation to happen.
