Charr: The only way Haye beats Vitali is on a race track!

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Heavyweight berates ‘Hayemaker’ chances WBC fringe world champion Manuel Charr has told WBN that David Haye has no chance of succeeding in defeating full title holder Vitali Klitschko if their proposed bout comes to fruition. The 28 year-old from Lebanon, who was stopped in four rounds by the elder Klitschko on a cut last year, remains hopeful of a clash with Haye to decide which of them faces Vitali, but believes the Londoner would come unstuck if he beats him to a title challenge with the Ukrainian. "Haye is fast, but unfortunately he uses his speed to run away when he faces a strong guy like he did in his fight against Wladimir,” Charr told World Boxing News. “He is a good fighter when he knows he is winning, but I think he would be scared if he fought Vitali or any other real heavyweight contender. “Vitali Klitschko is the best heavyweight in the world right now, so I have to say; ‘The only way David Hay...

Charr: I’ll fight Haye in England, on the moon, anywhere!

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor ‘Diamond Boy’ hopes to seal heavyweight eliminator Germany-based contender Manuel Charr has reiterated his stance that a fight between himself and former world champion David Haye would make the most sense - with the winner going on to face Vitali Klitschko. The 28 year-old, who returned to winning ways with a first round stoppage last month after losing in four rounds to Klitschko, is rumoured to be returning to the ring this month and then hopes to challenge Haye, before a rematch with the Ukrainian. Haye, 32, recently held a second open day for fans where he focused his attention solely on a battle with Vitali, although with Charr and the ‘Hayemaker’ both ranked in the top ten by the WBC, a potential clash could be sold as a final eliminator. "Many people made the mistake to ignore me in the first place. I usually respond to this with a quote from Gandhi: "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then yo...

Haye ends Fury hopes: I won’t fight unless your name is Klitschko!

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Ex-champion will retire if attempts to lure Ukrainian fail David Haye will not be drawn into a slanging match with domestic rival Tyson Fury and intends to hang up his gloves if unsuccessful in his attempts to land one final world title shot against WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. The 31 year-old made the admission in the wake of several public outbursts from former British title holder Fury, who is eager to face Haye as he himself, leads up to a possible fight against one of the Ukrainian brothers next year. “Just for the record fight fans, I will never fight any other boxer whose name isn't Klitschko from this point on,” stated Haye over the weekend, leaving Fury to contemplate an alternative opponent for his Belfast return on December 1. The ‘Hayemaker’ came out of his first retirement last October to brutally halt Dereck Chisora in five rounds at Upton Park in London and is hopeful that the victory will be enough to earn him another s...

Haye tells Fury to fight Price, Tyson bites back

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Ex-world champ disinterested in domestic battle David Haye has rebuffed an offer to face Tyson Fury in Belfast on December 1 to enjoy a holiday in Jamaica and believes that the former Irish champion should settle his domestic differences with David Price, rather than calling him out. The 31 year-old, who reigned as WBA heavyweight king until dethroned by Wladimir Klitschko in July 2011, is hoping for a crack at his former foes elder brother Vitali and advised Fury to take on the British champion instead. “I'll be chillin on a beach in Jamaica on December 1,” stated Haye. “Why don't you call out David Price for a winner takes all fight, he'll accept 100%?” Fury, 24, then came back with an instant repost to Haye with a derogatory remark, before making fun of the two-weight world title-holders failure against unified champion Wladimir in Hamburg a year ago. “Because you’re the pussy I want.  You’re always talking about Vita...

Haye: Vitali won't last six rounds with me!

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Briton ‘desperate’ for heavyweight showdown Former WBA champion David Haye watched on as a dismal Manuel Charr was easily dispatched by WBC king Vitali Klitschko and now hopes to be granted a promised opportunity to put right the loss to his younger brother. The 31 year-old, who stopped Dereck Chisora in July (a feat un-matched by Vitali in February), is on the hunt for another crack at a Klitschko following his shot-shy loss to four-belt champion Wladimir last year. The ‘Hayemaker’ wants to give ‘Dr Ironfist’ the challenge previously unbeaten Charr could not manage in a poor fourth round defeat on Saturday night at Moscow’s Olympic Stadium and believes he can stop the formidable champion. “I was very disappointed with Vitali’s performance and I would love to get in with him and knock him out,” Haye told The Daily Star. “I saw so many holes in his defence. He would not last six rounds with me. “I would throw clusters of punches....

Haye responds to Charr: If you beat Klitschko, they’ll own you!

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Still shot from iFilmLondon Former champion warns title challenger Manuel Charr’s recent interview with WBN has not bypassed the attention of the Klitschko’s biggest rival David Haye as the undefeated German plans to seek out the Briton if he can overcome the odds and defeat Vitali on September 8. Charr, who has 21 straight victories since his debut in 2005, gatecrashed Haye’s post-fight press conference after his impressive win over Derek Chisora at Upton Park recently, only for the ‘Hayemaker’ to be unsure of who the Lebanon-born contender was. The 31 year-old former WBA heavyweight title holder is himself intent on gaining a shot against Vitali, 41, in 2013 and has yet to acknowledge whether Charr would come into his thinking if the underdog can become the first man since Lennox Lewis to beat the Ukrainian. The Londoner is of the belief that if the ‘Diamond Boy’ shocks Klitschko in Moscow, then he may well be obliged to give Vitali ...

Haye proud of achievements, says retirement possible

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor ‘Hayemaker’ could bow out victorious after Chisora win Two-weight world champion David Haye may have fought his last fight after finishing Derek Chisora in five rounds on Saturday night and says whatever happens, he is proud of his ring career. The 31 year-old, who retired last October only to return to fight Chisora, was ridiculed in the wake of his famous toe incident against Wladimir Klitschko a year ago, and now feels redeemed with his pulsating performance. "If that was my last fight then it's a fight I'm very proud of and very happy with,” Haye told the BBC . "It was worth it. When I walked out there at Upton Park in front of 30,000 fans that paid hard-earned money to come and see me back, it felt amazing. "What started out as a very negative thing for British boxing turned out to be a fantastic event." Haye is hoping to challenge Vitali Klitschko for his WBC belt in the next twelve months, although ...

Haye and Chisora ‘squash their beef’ once and for all

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Britons end feud following entertaining contest All the animosity surrounding the spectacle that was David Haye v Dereck Chisora has now subsided as the two fighters embraced at the end of their pulsating five round contest at Upton Park earlier tonight. Ex-world champion Haye pulled off a spectacular end to the fight by flooring Chisora twice on his way to a 24th stoppage win and both boxers confirmed that they are leaving all the pre-fight shenanigans behind them. “Whatever beef was there prior to the fight I believe is squashed now, well at least from my side and I hope vice versa,” said Haye. “Yes same here,” replied Chisora as the room erupted into applause. “It was a great fight and everything is done now.” Chisora, 28, was humble in his defeat and may now have gained himself a lot more fans for his conduct in the build-up and after the fight and can surely come again after making the fight a good advert for British boxing desp...

Haye betters Vitali with fifth round Chisora stoppage

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Former champion impresses in London An entertaining battle at West Ham United’s Upton Park ended with just one second left of the fifth round as David Haye scored a devastating stoppage win over Dereck Chisora. The two-weight world title holder, who was returning from a semi-retirement and a year out, put the never before floored Chisora on the canvas twice, with the Finchley fighter failing to recover from the second knockdown. Haye, 31, looked in control for most of the bout, with the out-classed Chisora having his best success in the third, when rocking the Bermondsey man momentarily towards the end of the round. The first two rounds were more cagey and the fight never really opened up the way Haye wanted it to until after Chisora had his best spell, with the ‘Hayemaker’ taking full advantage of his weaker defence from the fourth round. The signs were there for the former WBA champion that Chisora was more open and in the fifth, w...

Booth: Haye was slaughtered for genuine toe injury

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Trainer says ailment hampered Klitschko performance Adam Booth has prepared David Haye for battle this Saturday night as the Bermondsey man aims to put the memory of his loss to Wladimir Klitschko behind him with a scintillating knockout win over Dereck Chisora at Upton Park. Haye, 31, has been out of the ring and semi-retired for a year since the infamous fight in which the former two-weight world champion was hampered by a foot injury that cost him a shot at claiming four world heavyweight titles and Booth was disappointed with the post-fight reaction. "It's a shame that the toe was what the media chose to reflect on. David showed a genuine injury and got slaughtered for it," Booth said. "It was a shame because if you watch the first six rounds it was dead even and (US television network) HBO ever had David ahead. "It was the second half of the fight that Wladimir used to put it away. "David genuinely do...

Chisora: I just want to punch Haye - no boxing, just fighting!

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor ‘Del Boy’ says clash won’t be pretty Former world heavyweight title challenger Dereck Chisora is planning on scrapping with David Haye for the duration of their grudge bout on Saturday night and doesn’t see any need to box the one-time world champion. Chisora is looking to get back to winning ways following a disappointing twelve months this weekend at Upton Park and following their public brawl in February, ‘Del Boy’ says the two will just pick up where they left off. "I'm going to give you a great fight," said Chisora at yesterday’s conference call, which incidentally, Haye slept through. "I'll take nothing away from David Haye, he comes in in great shape, he trains hard. Two great athletes in that ring and we'll see what will happen. "I like to give it my all, I like to be tired after my own fight, I want to push myself to boundaries I've never been before. "It's a fight. I'm not lo...

Trainer Charles attacks Chisora, unsure on cornering for Haye fight

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor ‘Del Boy’ camp in disarray with two weeks to go Dereck Chisora and his coach Don Charles have been embroiled in a punch-up in the gym as they prepared together to face former WBA champion David Haye on July 14th at Upton Park in a heavyweight grudge match. Charles, who has been with Chisora for a decade, revealed the spat in a recent interview and is now estranged from the one-time British champion, with no word as to whether he will be welcomed back into the camp. “I won’t go into the details as to why he wanted his head gear off and there’s a way to tell someone something and it’s called respect,” Charles told BoxNation , who will show the fight live next month. “I’m not a nutter. He asked me to take his head gear off and I physically attacked him. “It’s the worst thing that’s happened since I’ve been with him and I’ve been with him for 10 years; I’m like a father to him. “There is no father around. He’s the man in his house s...

Chisora defeat unthinkable for Haye

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor ‘Hayemaker’ has a reputation to rebuild The fallout from his last foray in the boxing ring will still be ringing in his ears as David Haye makes his ring walk to face domestic nemesis Dereck Chisora on July 14 th at Upton Park Football Stadium in London. The 31 year-old has had a turbulent year since his July defeat to Wladimir Klitschko, with the now infamous ‘toe-gate’ incident, half-hearted retirement in October and February brawl with ‘Del Boy’ damaging the Londoner’s credibility. So would a defeat to Chisora in the summer leave the license-less former two-weight world champion on the scrapheap? A lot would argue that it would and could conceivably retire Haye once again without him having a say in the matter. The Bermondsey fighter’s ultimate goal, as it was a year ago, is a world title shot against a Klitschko brother and with Vitali likely to fight just once more before retirement, Haye will need to put on an explosive perfor...

Haye: No desire to fight Chisora

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor ‘Hayemaker’ rules out British bout Two-weight world champion David Haye, speaking at an appearance on ‘That Sunday Night Show’ on UK TV, has ruled out any future fight with rival Dereck Chisora following the pair’s brawl in Munich last week. The 31 year-old, who retired from professional boxing last October, had been linked to a multi-million pound clash against the former British and Commonwealth champion after the pair went toe-to-toe at the Klitschko v Chisora post-fight press conference, but has now moved to rule out the fight. "I've got no desire to fight Dereck Chisora inside the ring or outside the ring. He's lost his last three fights,” stated Haye to host Adrian Chiles. "If I could rewind time, of course I wouldn't go down there (to Munich). But you can't rewind time." Haye also commented on the brawl by saying: "He comes over to me, in my face, I feel his knuckles in my face, what am I supp...

Hearn: Chisora fight won’t happen, Haye is a PR disaster!

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Matchroom promoter says no interest in all-British clash Eddie Hearn says Daivd Haye should have never stepped foot in Munich as the former two-weight world champion caused controversy by firstly, calling out Vitali Kklitschko and then publicly scuffled with former British title holder Dereck Chisora. The Matchroom Sport supremo, who looks after the interests of the likes Kell Brook, Darren Barker and Carl Froch, is of the belief that a heavyweight super-fight between the two Brits would not be sufficient enough to bring the ‘Hayemaker’ out of retirement. “I’m not sure Haye will want a media run-up and fight with Dereck Chisora,” Hearn told The Daily Star on Sunday. “The only way he would come out of retirement is for millions of pounds and there’s no demand for a fight with Chisora that is going to generate that sort of money. “Perhaps Vitali might fight David but I’m not sure that will generate the sort of money he is used to now. “David sh...

David Haye official Statement (Re: Munich)

David Haye It is with regret that I feel I have to issue this statement to clarify certain matters, following an unfortunate incident that occurred on Saturday night (February 18) in Munich, Germany at the Vitali Klitschko vs. Dereck Chisora post-fight press conference. I was in Munich to watch the WBC world heavyweight title bout between Klitschko and Chisora and provide punditry for BoxNation, and accredited as such. During the post-fight press conference, I was stood at the back of the room. It wasn't until Bernd Boente said my name and involved me in the press conference that I commented. I was then happy to banter back and forth with Boente and Klitschko, keen to ascertain whether he (Vitali) would stay true to his word and reiterate his desire to do what his younger brother couldn't do - knock me out. I felt as though the public would want to hear more information about this potential bout and that we could both start beating the drum ahead of a showdown l...

Wladimir: Chisora behaviour won't be tolerated

Wladimir Klitschko Dear friends, I am shocked and deeply embarrassed by the actions of Dereck Chisora and his team over this past week. It saddens me how he represented the sport of boxing and disrespected the champion of the world Vitali Klitschko at the weigh-in and fight night.  But even more embarrassing and disgraceful to the sport was the post fight press conference.  With journalists from all over the world in attendance, this same man Dereck Chisora, got into a fight with Adam Booth, the trainer of David Haye, and David Haye himself. Dereck then promised out loudly multiple times right in front of the press to "personally SHOOT AND KILL David Haye!!!"  For all of the great Champions from the past that have been polishing the image of the sport of boxing and giving it the glamour, respect and recognition while setting a good example for the youth of the world to follow, this type of behavior kills all that hard work from the former champs and teaches di...

Chisora and Haye stand to make millions from fracas

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Brawl increases interest in British battle The late-night punch-up between British heavyweights Dereck Chisora and David Haye in Munich on Saturday night is set to make both fighters millions if they decide to meet in the ring pending any punishments dished out. The British Boxing Board of Control have issued a statement today which indicates possible sanctions will be handed out to 28 year-old Chisora, who instigated the mass brawl at the weekend after first slapping, and then losing to Vitali Klitschko for the world heavyweight title. Speculation is rife that a life-time ban will be laid on the Londoner but in my opinion this won’t happen and once ‘Del Boy’ serves whatever ban/fine that comes his way, the former British champion stands to benefit royally from his actions in Germany. Haye, 31, is still wanted for questioning by police, although his whereabouts are currently unknown and the WBA champion may have to deal with the Munich c...

Chisora questioned by German police, Haye missing

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Munich officers detain British fighter for threats Heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora has been arrested by German police officers after threatening to ‘shoot’ and ‘burn’ fellow British boxer David Haye at the post-fight press conferece for his defeat to Vitali Klitschko. The 28 year-old confronted Haye as he gatecrashed his Munich wrap-up with journalists, with the resulting brawl turning nasty with bottles and a tripod being used by Haye as members of Chisora’s entourage walked him down. Chisora then threatened to shoot the ‘Hayemaker’ after he left the press conference and argued to the former WBA heavyweight champion’s manager Adam Booth that the two should meet ‘inside’ or ‘outside’ of the ring or he will ‘find him and burn him.’ Munich police have now been brought in and detained Chisora at 10:30am German time for questioning about the incident, but are still unable to locate Haye after searching the hotel where he was staying...

Boxing gets ugly as Chisora and Haye clash

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor British fighter’s engage in German Brawl Accusations flew around in the aftermath of an astonishing brawl between British fighter’s Dereck Chisora and David Haye at a German post-fight press conference when the two failed to control themselves in front of the world’s media. Chisora, 28, had just gone twelve rounds with one of the best heavyweights of recent times in Vitali Klitschko and obviously his adrenaline was pumped. The sight of Haye in the room sent the Finchley fighter over the edge though and Chisora was eventually questioned by police for threatening to shoot his compatriot. ‘Del Boy’ has been emphasising his hatred for Haye for sometime now and whether it was a good idea to allow Haye into the post-fight press conference is a debate for another time as the damage is done. Haye, a former WBA champion, had made his presence felt in an attempt to call out Vitali Klitschko for a June match-up that had been discussed in December, ...
