Cuban heavyweight returns to the ring
Prizefigher champion Mike Perez has been handed a slot on David
Price’s Echo Arena bout against American Tony Thompson - ending fourteen months
of frustration for the undefeated southpaw.
Perez, 27, boasts an undefeated record of 18 wins, with 12
stoppages and bulldozed his way to an impressive Matchroom tournament victory
in May 2011, but has since found it hard to capitalize on his success with only
a solitary win over Friday Ahunanya
since.
The Ireland-based bruiser adds a welcome dose of clout to
the Liverpool card, which so far has twelve bouts confirmed for the February 23rd
BoxNation show, including Darren Hamilton v Steve Williams for the British
light-welterweight belt and local fighter Kevin Satchell.
‘The Platinum Kid’ Adil Anwar also appears on the night as
he looks to seal a match-up with the winner of Hamilton v Williams after
amassing an 18-1 record on his way to English title and similar Prizefighter
success.
