Peterson, 27, thought he had become the unified champion with a straightforward split decision point’s victory over the Briton in Washington, but the WBA have now reviewed evidence of alleged scorecard tampering and illegal points deductions handed to them by Team Khan and have ordered a return. “It was ruled a direct rematch,” Mendoza told World Boxing News. “The decision was merely based on true facts and fairness oriented. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who is investigating the matter of behalf of Khan, revealed the identity of the man that the Bolton fighter claimed was tampering with the scorecards inbetween rounds and had no business ringside. "His name is Mustafa Ameen and the IBF have confirmed to us his name, and they have confirmed to us that he's involved in an official capacity with the IBF," Schaefer told Sky Sports News.
