N’Dam coach proposes triangular series with Quillin and Pirog

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Ouicher awaits favourable WBO decision The trainer of former WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam is still seething at the way his fighter was treated in the build up to losing his world title belt to American Peter Quillin. N’Dam, 28, was notified just a few weeks before his mandatory title defence against ‘Kid Chocolate’ that he had to accept the fight or be stripped, all this coming in a very short period since his reign began. The Frenchman and his coach Mustapha Ouicher are now seeking new representation as they remain hopeful of a ruling from the WBO and have revealed to WBN that the organisation a reacting positively to their advances. “I am pleasantly surprised to know that the President of the WBO has taken seriously our claim and notes that the result of the fight between Quillin and Hassan is not clear on these conditions,” Ouicher told World Boxing News. “The WBO President has shown in the past that he is capable...

Former world champion Hassan N’Dam seeks new promoter

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Frenchman open to offers for New Year outing One-time WBO middleweight title holder Hassam N’Dam N’Jikam has exclusively told WBN that he is on the lookout for a new promoter as he chases a rematch with Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin. The 28 year-old Cameroonian-born boxer has just that solitary loss to Quillin at the Barclays Center earlier this year to his name and increased his stock significantly as he out-boxed the hard-hitting American for large periods in the fight. N’Dam’s downfall was the fact that he was put on the canvas six times on the night, but the Frenchman believes vehemently that he should still be champion following the WBO’s decision to order the fight at short notice in the first place. Both N’Dam and his coach/manager Mustapha Ouicher have launched protests with the WBO and Quillin’s promoters Golden Boy in the wake of the contest, although nothing has yet been heard regarding a rematch. “We have had no contact ...

N’Dam begins WBO action to annul Quillin result

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Former champion annoyed at title treatment Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam has decided to bring action against the World Boxing Organisation after the Frenchman lost his WBO middleweight title to mandatory challenger Peter Quillin last month. The 28 year-old, who was put on the canvas six times by the new title holder at the Barclays Center in New York, is unhappy at the notice given by the WBO after he was handed the belt following the WBO’s decision to strip Dmitry Pirog. “I will initiate a procedure against the WBO for non-compliance of sports ethics,” N’Dam’s coach and manager Mouss Ouicher exclusively told World Boxing News. “They have invalidated the mandatory by imposing that Hassan, who was only made champion on August 27th, had to defend the belt against Quillin. “At this time, he did not even know that he had to deal Quillin, so how does the WBO impose a mandatory two months before a fight? “It is Unthinkable, ridiculous and ind...

N’Dam protests overturned Quillin rematch clause with Golden Boy

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Frenchman feels tricked over second chance at new champion Former WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam has been left devastated at the realisation that he may not get a rematch after commendably losing his title to Peter Quillin on Saturday night in Brooklyn. The previously unbeaten fighter boxed well in-between an amazing six knockdowns from the heavy-handed ‘Kid Chocolate’ and had thought that a second fight between the pair would be immediately announced. N’Dam is now citing a reversal by Quillin’s promoters Golden Boy on a stipulated return fight and spoke exclusively to WBN to explain the whole process of the fight being made from start to finish. "I want to note that we came to this fight against Quillin with an agreement on the contract signed by Richard Schaefer, that in case of defeat the rematch with me would be the next fight for Quillin with a date to be determined,” N’Dam told World Boxing News. “It was ou...

N’Dam down six times as Quillin takes WBO belt

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor ‘Kid Chocolate’ becomes champion on home soil Peter Quillin claimed the WBO middleweight title with a mixed performance as the New Yorker put champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam on the canvas six times in between losing at least half of the twelve rounds. The 29 year-old’s power was the ultimate difference in an entertaining bout that saw N’Dam down twice in the fourth, sixth and twelfth rounds as ‘Kid Chocolate’ pleased the home crowd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn by taking the title. I had the fight 102-103 in Quillin’s favour going into the last round, with the American pulling off his final two knockdowns with just 30 seconds left to rubberstamp his impeding status as a world champion and make my final card 109-113. The three judges scored the bout fractionally differently as all three carded 115-107 to Quillin, although N’Dam, 28, deserved more credit for a gutsy performance that may see the Frenchman invited back to the US in the f...

N’Dam N’Jikam vows to inflict first defeat on Quillin, eyes Martinez and Geale unification

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Frenchman confident of US victory WBO middleweight title holder Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam is in no doubt that forthcoming challenger Peter Quillin will be dealt accordingly on October 20 in New York and is then planning to return to US shores for a unification bout. The 28 year-old, who is unbeaten in 27 contests, travels to the Barclays Center next week for his first outing of note away from his native France, with many surprised that the Pantin fighter was willing to make his first defence against a dangerous opponent like Quillin. For N’Dam though, the champion does not see it as a risk and believes that the manner of his victory will only serve to enhance his worldwide reputation and lead him into more high-profile battles in the future. “I never refuse a challenge and taking the Quillin fight was no different,” N’Dam told World Boxing News. “I understand we have unbeaten records and take the pride that will come with inflicting his f...

N’Dam: Deal with Quillin not done yet but I’ll eat Kid Chocolate!

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor New WBO champion ready to defend his title Undefeatd Frenchman Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam has told WBN that contrary to reports, a deal to fight Amercian Peter Quillin is yet to formally agreed for October 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Former WBO interim middleweight champion N’Dam was given the full version of the belt this week as former title holder Dmitry Pirog was relieved of the title and has been strongly linked to Quillin, although a first defence in the US is still only a possibility at this stage. “I'm glad to announce that I have been designated as WBO world champion, which I find fair and logical and I thank the WBO for taking that responsibility,” N’Dam told World Boxing News. “Regarding my next first defence, my promoter Sebastien Acaries is negotiating with Golden Boy for me to fight against Peter Quillin and I hope that common ground will be found so that the bout can be finallized. “Whether it be him or ...

N’Dam N’Jikam: I trust the WBO to remove Pirog

Phil D. Jay  WBN Editor Frenchman expects to receive full title Interim WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam remains hopeful that the WBO will install him as full champion after title holder Dmitriy Pirog firstly attempted to avoid fighting him and then suffered a back injury. Pirog, 32, was ready to fight WBA and IBO belt holder Gennady Golovkin in the United States in August without the permission of the WBO and it was then expected that N’Jikam would be immediately elevated to full status. The injury to the Russian has now inadvertently meant that the unbeaten fighter keeps his title for the time being, although N’Jikam, who is also undefeated, expects a decision regarding the title to go in his favour. “There have been rumours that I will be given the title, but I have not heard official word yet,” N’Jikam told World Boxing News. “It would be only fair because the two times I had arranged to fight him, he pulls out for reasons unknown to me. ...
