Frenchman open to offers for New Year outing
One-time WBO middleweight title holder Hassam N’Dam N’Jikam
has exclusively told WBN that he is on the lookout for a new promoter as he
chases a rematch with Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin.
The 28 year-old Cameroonian-born boxer has just that
solitary loss to Quillin at the Barclays Center earlier this year to his name
and increased his stock significantly as he out-boxed the hard-hitting American for large
periods in the fight.
N’Dam’s downfall was the fact that he was put on the canvas
six times on the night, but the Frenchman believes vehemently that he should
still be champion following the WBO’s decision to order the fight at short notice in the first place.
Both N’Dam and his coach/manager Mustapha Ouicher have
launched protests with the WBO and Quillin’s promoters Golden Boy in the wake
of the contest, although nothing has yet been heard regarding a rematch.
“We have had no contact with Golden Boy and will not be
renewing our own deal with our current promoter,” Ouicher told World Boxing
News.
“Nothing can be planned either for Hassan until we have a
promoter in place, so we are open to all suggestions and approaches from anyone
interested in taking this forward.
“What is important is that we can then operate in good
conditions and get Hassan the fights he deserves, although I would have
preferred a rematch with Quillin.
“If a serious offer comes in we will consider it, but we
have are own targets in Quillin, Sergio Martinez, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Daniel
Geale and Gennady Golovkin because that’s the level we are at right now."
