‘Boxing Binman’ steps down after nine-year career
Former world super-bantamweight title challenger Rendall
Munroe has decided to end his ring career on the back of his sixth round
stoppage loss to Scott Quigg at Manchester Arena last month.
Endearingly known as the ‘Boxing Binman’ for continuing his
job working as a rubbish collector whilst claiming titles as a fighter in the past, the 32
year-old will be remembered for his exciting fight style and professional attitude
to the sport.
The Leicester fighter made the announcement today after
coming close to claiming another shot at the world title before running into Quigg - and can look back with pride after taking Japanese
legend Toshiaki Nishioka the distance in Tokyo two years ago for the WBC title.
Munroe leaves the sport with an impressive record of twenty four wins,
three losses and one draw and bows out with the respect of the whole of boxing
for the way he conducted himself inside and outside of the ring.
