Heavyweight fighter in the frame for reality show

Unbeaten WBC title contender Tyson Fury is pondering following heavyweight rival David Haye into reality television after being offered the chance to appear on Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother series in January.

The 24 year-old, who fights on the channel regularly through his promoter Mick Hennessy, could now line-up with a host of other famous faces to share the Big Brother house over three weeks, starting next month.

“When I spoke to Tyson he liked the idea of appearing on the show,” Fury’s trainer and uncle Peter told World Boxing News.

“Not only is he going to be heavyweight champion of the world in the ring, but out of it also. He is the only heavyweight around that has a personality.”

6ft 9ins Fury, who boasts a 20-0 record, is currently recognised as one of the best fighter’s in his division and is on the verge of sealing a world title fight with a bout in New York on St. Patrick’s Day 2013.

A decent run on the show would widen his appeal with the public at large, as it did for former WBA champion David Haye, who recently came third on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here!

Former TV presenter and comic Justin Lee Collins has also been rumoured to be one of the contestants in the frame to appear on the next series, along with music superstar Meatloaf and X-Factor reject Rylan Clarke.

Smith turned professional at super-featherweight in 1998 at the Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton, losing a six rounder against Welshman Woody Greenaway.  One month later, Ernie was thrown in with an unknown prospect by the name of Gavin Rees (former world champion and current British Lightweight Champion) who he also took the distance over four rounds. The “Gypsy Boy” then managed to string together a four fight unbeaten run together in early 1999 and ended the year winning five out of his twelve contests, but by this time had already delved into the journeyman pool of boxers with a record of 5-8-1. After settling at the welterweight limit, Ernie ga...

The Londoner is now returning to the US to re-establish his headline status on American soil. He fights for the 38th time in his career against an opponent yet to be named at NC Music Factory’s Reelworks Studios and is currently preparing to get back to winning ways. “Training has gone well for this fight.
