Ex-world champion boxer makes successful switch
Former IBF light-welterweight title-holder Lovemore Ndou won
his first MMA bout against Aswin Cabuy in the first round after making a surprising switch from
boxing earlier this year.
The 41 year-old, who fought 64 times in a successful professional career,
scored the victory by applying a forearm cross chokehold, which led to Cabuy
tapping out to hand Ndou the victory.
Australian-based Ndou had been hoping to be Ricky Hatton’s comeback opponent last month, but then decided to fight at Combat 8 after entering the MMA ranks and
now wants to make a move into the UFC.
