Frank Stea/ATG Radio Last night ATG Radio had the chance to sit down with undefeated former WBA lightweight Champion Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios as he prepares for his upcoming 10/13 fight on HBO against Mike Alvarado.  We discussed several topics with him including his preparations for the Alvarado fight, moving to 140, Garcia family beef, Adrien Broner and more. Here are some of the highlights from the interview: On his fight with Alvarado being official: “I signed my contract and I believe he signed his contract. I don’t know about his part but I have done everything on my part. I am ready to fight now! Top Rank set the date so it’s official. I believe he signed his contract and I have signed mine. "The fans and everyone are going to be excited because I am excited about this fight. Jay WBN Editor Cuban out-boxes ‘Bam Bam’ in Vegas A classy Richard Abril should be celebrating becoming the WBA lightweight champion following an assured performance against former title holder Brandon Rios at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. The 29 year-old, who was the only fighter who could claim the belt as Rios failed to make 135lbs yet again, totally out-boxed a sluggish Rios for at least eight rounds to take the fight 117-112 on my scorecard. How judges Jerry Roth (116-112) and Glenn Trowbridge (115-113) saw the contest for Rios is beyond belief and is only doing a dis-service to boxing as a spectacle and a sport. Adalaide Byrd was more accurate carding 117-111 as Abril out-manoeuvred and bamboozled Rios at times as ‘Bam Bam’ walked in taking combinations from the Cuban all night. Jay WBN Editor ‘Bam Bam’ show bad intentions with stoppage WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios proved his world class credentials at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California last night with a crushing third round stoppage of rugged challenger Urbano Antillon. The 25 year-old made a successful first defence of the title he claimed in February against Miguel Acosta and wowed the home crowd with a stunning performance. Both men never took a backward step for the first two rounds, with Rios edging both with the classier punches, catching Antillon with one two combinations that started to tell on the face of Antillon, 28, by the end of the second round. The two fighters squared up to each other at the end of the round and the genuine distain for each other could be felt as both boxers went to their stools.
