Heavyweight showdown remains on hold
A potential British heavyweight title bout between rivals
Tyson Fury and David Price remains on the backburner after the British Boxing
Board of Control postponed the purse bids until after January 9.
29 year-old Price, who currently holds the Lonsdale Belt,
had been given until the date to negotiate a title defence against former
champion Fury, but has recently announced his intention to box American Tony
Thompson instead on February 23.
And with Fury keen to face Vitali Klitschko for the WBC
title in the coming months, a mouth-watering clash looks as far away as ever –
with both sides unwavering in their attempts to host any proposed domestic
fight.
The BBBC will now consider their options at their upcoming
meeting on Wednesday and release more information on which foe Price may face
in what will be his final defence before the title is his for keeps.
Fury, 24, has recently taken to Twitter to call out some of
the stars of UFC and MMA, although his next outing remains his planned American
debut in New York on March 17 - with an opponent yet to be confirmed.
