The 28 year-old from Lebanon, who was stopped in four rounds by the elder Klitschko on a cut last year, remains hopeful of a clash with Haye to decide which of them faces Vitali, but believes the Londoner would come unstuck if he beats him to a title challenge with the Ukrainian. Charr, who has just one loss against Vitali in his 22 bouts, has long been linked with a possible fight with ‘Del Boy’ after both failed to dethrone ‘Dr. Ironfist’ – although the ‘Diamond Boy’ has told WBN he has no interest in any future match-up with the Londoner. The 28 year-old, who returned to winning ways with a first round stoppage last month after losing in four rounds to Klitschko, is rumoured to be returning to the ring this month and then hopes to challenge Haye, before a rematch with the Ukrainian. Haye, 32, recently held a second open day for fans where he focused his attention solely on a battle with Vitali, although with Charr and the ‘Hayemaker’ both ranked in the top ten by the WBC, a potential clash could be sold as a final eliminator. The 39 year-old dropped his fifteenth loss following an eight-round points defeat to Kreiskott, 34, and has now lost five in a row since his last victory over 48 year-old Alfred Cole in September 2011. On top billing, Manuel Charr impressed on his return from suffering his only career defeat to Vitali Klitschko in September by blasting out Konstantin Airich in just 44 seconds to claim two fringe WBC belts and get back in the heavyweight mix.

Charr, who has 21 straight victories since his debut in 2005, gatecrashed Haye’s post-fight press conference after his impressive win over Derek Chisora at Upton Park recently, only for the ‘Hayemaker’ to be unsure of who the Lebanon-born contender was. The 37 year-old has continued on, and in flashes has looked a decent domestic fighter, but his 2009 Prizefighter defeat to Carl Baker really should have had the alarm bells ringing in Williams’ head. ‘The Brixton Bomber’ returned in March after a ten-month absence with a victory over a man who came in 68lbs lighter than he did and is really a cruiserweight. He followed that up with a first round win over Laszlo Toth, who was overweight and under-classed as a heavyweight and really shouldn’t have been in the ring with Danny. Jay WBN Editor German takes split decision in ‘Fight of the Year’ contender WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm clung to his title tonight in a close battle with Irishman Matthew Macklin in Cologne. The 32 year-old scored his 36th career win with a split decision to defend his belt for the twelfth time since claiming the title in 2006. Macklin, the younger man by three years started fast, throwing over 80 punches in the first round and kept up the pressure on the champion for the first six rounds. The challenger focused on Sturm’s body for the majority of his attacks and noticeably reddened Sturm’s midriff through the early part of the fight. ‘Leonidas’ was still catching Macklin with classy counters and some of the rounds could easily be scored either way, although Macklin did pressure the home fighter relentlessly throughout the twelve rounds.
