Two-weight world title holder Hopkins, who turns 48 next week, claimed the record when defeating Jean Pascal in May 2011 for the WBC light-heavyweight title, overthrowing ‘Big’ George Foreman’s long-standing feat. The Philadelphian, who turns 47 on January 15 th , is hoping to face Nathan Cleverly, Tavoris Cloud or Beibut Shumenov in his next fight, even though the WBC have ordered him to give Chad Dawson an immediate rematch. The two fought out a no contest at the Staples Center last October after Hopkins picked up a shoulder injury whilst tussling with Dawson and after initially being called a knockout for the challenger, has been amended by the WBC. Former undisputed light-heavyweight ruler Roy Jones Jr is now 42 and has lost eight out his last thirteen bouts and was badly knocked out by Russian Denis Lebedev. The former boxing superstar has still refused to confirm his retirement and is said to be considering his options. The incident followed a cagey opening round and amazingly referee Pat Russell failed to rule what looked like a wrestling move a foul.
