Injury fears allayed for ex-world champion
Contrary to reports since his crushing win over Carlos Molina
on Saturday night, light-welterweight contender Amir Khan suffered only bruised
hands on his way to a tenth round stoppage.
The 26 year-old, who is now back in contention for a world
title shot, punished Molina in scintillating fashion, - forcing the one-sided
bout to be halted and could now rematch Danny Garcia or Lamont Peterson next
year.
WBN contacted a member of Team Khan to confirm indications
that the Bolton fighter may have broken his hands as he got back to winning
ways, but have been assured by his representative that this is not the case.
All being well, the one-time unified 140lb champion should be fighting fit again soon to
pursue his dream of regaining the world title and seems to be fully focused on overturning his
latest two defeats against the American belt holders.
With both Garcia and Peterson tied up to title defences in
the New Year though, Khan could be forced to line-up a spring warm-up fight and
may look to go the mandatory route to ensure his chance at avenging the losses.
