Jorge Perez no match for new bantamweight star
The stage was set once again at the London Olympia for hot property Kal
Yafai to shine once again and the Birmingham fighter did not disappoint with a
predictably impressive performance.
The 23 year-old former Team GB member signalled his knockout intentions from the off against the much slighter Jorge Perez and dropped the Spanish title
holder with a vicious body shot in the opening round.
The marauding Yafai took a couple of shots himself in the second, although
retaining his domination in the process and systematically too Perez apart in
the next two rounds with some heavy-handed combinations.
Referee Mark Green and Perez’s corner were in unison in
ending the fight in the third session as Yafai proved his status as one of the
top performers in the country at 118lbs and moves on to 6-0 with his fifth stoppage.
