‘King’ back to winning ways with stoppage
Former world light-welterweight champion Amir Khan is back
in the reckoning at 140lbs after a one-sided beating of previously undefeated
Carlos Molina at the LA Sports Arena in California.
Khan came out with a renewed purpose following a switch from
Freddie Roach to Virgil Hunter and never wavered from his tactics throughout as
the Briton busted up Molina for ten rounds until the bout was stopped.
From the off the 26 year-old use his superior speed, and apart
from one or two instances where he reverted to his old brawling ways,
comprehensively took Molina apart until it was almost sickening to watch in the
end.
Eight totally dominant rounds had passed until referee Jack
Reiss took a closer look at Molina, and after another three minute pasting, the official was prompted to warn the American’s corner that more offence was needed.
A vain attempt to score some success by Molina ensued, but
with the lightning quick Khan’s reflexes making it nigh on impossible for him to gain sustained
momentum, the bout was called off at the end of the tenth.
The Bolton fighter is now back in the mix for a rematch with
rival Danny Garcia, who’s knockout win in the summer was the catalyst for the
changes made by Khan - who then proceeded to call out the ringside WBC and WBA champion in his post-fight
interview.
