Jackson, who acrimoniously split from Mayweather earlier
this year to begin his own SMS Promotions, tweeted the message after
Juan Manuel Marquez laid out Pacquiao with a shuddering right hook on Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The hip-hop star’s own fighter Yuriorkis Gamboa picked up
the interim WBA super-featherweight in an entertaining Fight of the Year
contender against Michael Farenas on the same bill and Jackson in not against the Cuban fighting
Mayweather in the near future.
Floyd, 35, is pencilled in to fight next on May 4, most probably
in Las Vegas on his ‘Cinco de Mayweather’ promotion, but will most likely face Saul
Alvarez or Robert Guerrero in what will be his 44th professional fight.
A clash with Pacquiao looks dead in the water after two
years of failed back and forth negotiations and unless the Filipino can
re-ignite his career in 2013, a money-spinning bout seems destined to never
make it to the ring.
As for Jackson and Mayweather, their friendship also looks confined
to the scrap-heap after a troubled year and it may just be a matter of time before their promotional
companies come head-to-head in combat.
