‘Hayemaker’ rules out British bout

Two-weight world champion David Haye, speaking at an appearance on ‘That Sunday Night Show’ on UK TV, has ruled out any future fight with rival Dereck Chisora following the pair’s brawl in Munich last week.

The 31 year-old, who retired from professional boxing last October, had been linked to a multi-million pound clash against the former British and Commonwealth champion after the pair went toe-to-toe at the Klitschko v Chisora post-fight press conference, but has now moved to rule out the fight.

"I've got no desire to fight Dereck Chisora inside the ring or outside the ring. He's lost his last
three fights,” stated Haye to host Adrian Chiles.

"If I could rewind time, of course I wouldn't go down there (to Munich). But you can't rewind time."

Haye also commented on the brawl by saying: "He comes over to me, in my face, I feel his knuckles in my face, what am I supposed to do? I've got to close the show.

"Look at all the camera angles. I had no other option. I could have stood there with my hands by my side and got punched, kicked or spat at. The guy has said on national television he is going to beat me up and break my jaw. Why wouldn't I defend myself?

"I can understand how that looks but I was there as part of the media. It wasn't a beer, either - it was a bottle of lemonade.

"It was a glass bottle but I didn't hit him with that bottle - I hit him with my fist. If I'd had my mobile phone in my hand, it would have been a mobile phone. If I'd had a hot dog in my hand, it would have been (the hot dog).”

The former WBA belt holder then moved on to Chisora, who the Bermondsey man sees as having serious issues after witnessing him firstly slap Vitali Klitschko, then spit in former opponent Wladimir’s face before the press room fracas.

"I'd say probably check yourself into some anger management clinic. I'm being serious. It's not a joke. He genuinely has problems with his anger,” added Haye.

28 year-old Chisora has already stated his desire to meet Vitali in a rematch and was recently spotted ringside as Alexander Povetkin decisioned Marco Huck in Stuttgart.

‘Del Boy’ had already enhanced his reputation with his performance inside the ring against the WBC champion and has now inadvertently made himself even more well-known in world boxing for his ruckus with Haye.

WBN Remembers: "Gypsy Boy" Ernie Smith

Phil D. Jay WBN Editor (picure by boxrec.com) After almost a year and a half without one of boxing’s great journeymen, World Boxing News is looking back at the 161-fight career of Worcestershire warrior Ernie Smith, concentrating on his contribution in the ring, rather than the tragic way his life ended out of it. Smith turned professional at super-featherweight in 1998 at the Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton, losing a six rounder against Welshman Woody Greenaway.  One month later, Ernie was thrown in with an unknown prospect by the name of Gavin Rees (former world champion and current British Lightweight Champion) who he also took the distance over four rounds. The “Gypsy Boy” then managed to string together a four fight unbeaten run together in early 1999 and ended the year winning five out of his twelve contests, but by this time had already delved into the journeyman pool of boxers with a record of 5-8-1. After settling at the welterweight limit, Ernie gained a su
