Unbeaten super-flyweight now 16-0
Ivan Morales is set to return to the ring in the spring after fighting eight times in the previous twelve months. The
younger brother of WBC 140lb champion Erik Morales has bulked up his impressive
16-fight unblemished record and plans a raid on the world title in the next twelve.
The 20 year-old, who has eleven stoppages since turning pro
in 2009, is now eyeing a world title shot in 2013 after another busy year in
2012 and has two options for his 17th outing with the first a possible US debut.
“My next fight is to be March 24 in Houston or the 31st in Cancun,”
Morales told World Boxing News.
“I will soon be looking to fight for the super-flyweight title
and want this match in September 2013.
“I want to fight with the champions. Omar Narvaez, Juan Carlos
Sánchez Jr it makes no difference. For me the name not is important only the
titles.”
The young Mexican may well fight on his sibling's undercard as the older Morales defends his light-welterweight title against Danny Garcia in Texas as reported on WBN earlier this month and awaits the green light for the appearance.
