‘Desert Storm’ hopes to finalise deal soon
WBO light-welterweight champion Timothy Bradley has revealed
that he is still yet to sign a contract to face welterweight belt holder Manny
Pacquiao on June 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Reports are widespread that the money-spinning bout is
confirmed and although the American has not yet put pen to paper on the deal, Bradley
expects to have something formally announced by early next week.
"I haven't signed anything, but we're negotiating
that," Bradley told his local paper The
Desert Sun.
"They'll get back to be by the end of the week or
Monday or Tuesday next week, and we should finalize things shortly. It's just
minor details on the contract.
"I'm just happy Manny wants to fight me. It's an honour. I
definitely earned this in every way and I'm just excited. I'm not only excited
to fight him, but I want to win. That's the big thing. I want to win."
The 28 year-old has twice unified 140lbs and will foray up
the extra 7lbs to welterweight for the first time as he hopes to become the
first man since Erik Morales in 2005, to defeat the Filipino fighting legend.
Pacquiao, 33, has something to prove going into the summer
bout in Nevada following his poor showing (by his standards) against Juan
Manuel Marquez last November and will be eager to put on a show against
Bradley.
