Pacquiao bout finalized for June 9th
WBO light-welterweight champion Timothy Bradley has finally
put pen to paper on his lucrative contract to fight welterweight belt holder
Manny Pacquiao for a reported fee of around $5,000,000.
The undefeated 28 year-old from California had wanted the
bout long before he was signed up by Bob Arum last year to Top Rank, after
which, his name was added to Pacquiao’s shortlist for a possible clash in 2012.
The fight is now a reality for June 9th at the
MGM Grand in Las Vegas and Bradley could not hide his delight when speaking to
his local newpaper The Desert Sun on the phone late last night.
“Signed, sealed and delivered!” exclaimed Bradley. “I'm
happy with everything. My manager is the best in the business. Cameron Dunkin
is the best in the business, no doubt. He is the man. So is my wife (Monica).
Well, she's not a man, though.”
“It's everything and more. I've been waiting for this
moment,” Bradley stated. “I'm going to do what I do. I'm going to get to work
and I'm definitely shooting for the stars. I'm going to be 110 percent ready
for this fight.”
Pacquiao, 33, goes into the fight knowing that only a
crushing knockout performance of two-time unified champion Bradley will suffice
to keep interest high for a global super-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
