Aydin test for ‘The Ghost’
Three-weight world champion Robert Guerrero will make his
welterweight debut on July 28th against WBC silver welterweight
champion Selcuk Aydin for the chance to become mandatory challenger to belt
holder Floyd Mayweather.
The 28 year-old, who has been out of the ring almost a year
with injury, had hoped to meet Mayweather on his May 5th date at the
MGM Grand but has now seemingly settled for the opportunity to force the
five-weight world title holder’s hand.
Aydin, also 28, is undefeated in 23 contests so far and has
been waiting since July 2009 for his chance to fight for the full WBC title
after winning an eliminator that never transpired to bring him his shot.
The match-up has been slated to take place in San Jose,
California at the HP Pavillion, with broadcasters Showtime picking up the rights
to the fight and more support will be added soon.
