Hatton wants license back before decision of future
Two-weight world champion Ricky Hatton has announced that he plans to re-apply to the British Boxing Board of Control for his boxers license before deciding whether to hang his gloves up for good and concentrate on his promotional company.
Hatton, 32, is keen to be able to make the choice whether to fight, whilst still holding a license after having it revoked amidst non-boxing related allegations about his private life, which the Manchester City fan told Sky Sports’ “Ringside” show are firmly behind him.
“I am in the gym, I am getting fit, my hands are bit tied at the minute, but eventually I will apply to get my license back and when I do I will make a decision about my future,” Ricky told Adam Smith.
“I am still involved in boxing, I am bringing the champions through, I am in a good place myself and I am back enjoying life again.”
When pushed by Smith to give a “gut feeling” on whether he would fight again, Hatton admitted he may not have the desire, just yet, to lace up the gloves and get back into the ring in the foreseeable future.
“I don’t know, I mean, you need that hunger there. I am in the gym, I am training and working with everyone in the Bob Shannon gym, with my brother (Matthew) and Denton Vassell and people like that.
“But its different going in the gym to train to be fit, than going in there training for a training camp, when your dieting, your running at six and I don’t know whether I have got the hunger to do that yet, but time will tell.
“I miss it everyday, I can never find the words, even to this day, to turn round and say “its over.” So I am in the gym, I have got a little bit of the buzz back, a spring in my step working with all the lads in the gym and you know, who knows,” added the “Hitman.”
