Broner: Burns knew moving up was best, he couldn’t beat me at my worst

‘The Problem’ ready for anyone in November world title bout

WBO super-featherweight title challenger Adrien Broner is on the cusp of becoming world champion after an amazing start to his professional boxing career and is just awaiting an opponent for  his November date in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The 22 year-old has racked up an impressive 21 victories in just over three years, with 17 knockouts, ten of which have come in the first round and the American believes that former champion Ricky Burns was right to vacate the title rather than risk it against him on home soil.

“I'm not unhappy [at Burns’ moving up],” Broner told World Boxing News.

“I feel like every man know what’s best for their career, so at the end of the day I'm happy for him because to be honest, he and I know he couldn't beat me on my worst day.”

Another undefeated prospect Eloy Perez, 24, had initially been linked to opposing ‘The Problem’ in November but was apparently ruled out by promoter's Golden Boy in the past week and as the WBO seek a worthy contender, Broner isn’t worried who he faces at the U.S Bank Arena.

“I don't know who I'm facing in November. I just know I will be ready for whoever and after I win the title, I might stay around or I might go up and give the lightweights hell!” he stated.

Ashley Theophane talks US return, Ricky Burns sparring and future fights

Jay  WBN Editor ‘Treasure’ training for August 24 return Former British light-welterweight champion Ashley Theophane is aiming to put the disappointment of his loss to Darren Hamilton behind him when he makes his comeback in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 24. The 31 year-old, who has fought some of the top fighters between 140 and 154lbs, planned to take 18 months out of chasing his world title dream to win a British Lonsdale belt outright and just fell short with points defeat to Hamilton in May after making two defences. The Londoner is now returning to the US to re-establish his headline status on American soil. WBO #4 Orlando Cruz comes out as the first openly gay boxer in history
