‘Del Boy’ causes stir at heavyweight bout

Former British champion Dereck Chisora surprisingly turned up at David Price’s fight with Sam Sexton for his old title tonight and almost ended up being booted out before he got to see the two take to the ring.

The 28 year-old, who fights David Haye on July 14th in a domestic grudge match, made the trip to Liverpool to take in the much-anticipated contest at the Aintree Equestrian Centre and a tongue-in-cheek stunt was close to ending his night early.

Frank Warren-promoted ‘Del Boy’ turned up to the Sky Sports televised bout sporting a BoxNation t-shirt and attempted to enter the fighters' dressing rooms before security threatened to eject the former world title challenger from the building. Chisora then talked his way out of it when he put on a jacket and added to the tension of the night as the two fighters prepared to take to the ring.

The incident represents another flashpoint for Chisora, who famously brawled with Tyson Fury at ringside at the O2 when James DeGale fought George Groves and more infamously, scrapped with David Haye in Munich last February.

It was 1983 and Billy was matched up against Puerto Rican journeyman Luis Resto on the undercard of Roberto Duran v Davey Moore at Madison Square Garden in a ten rounder. Resto wasn’t known for his punching power but Billy took a sustained beating for the full ten rounds, his face, badly damaged and his eyes were almost shut. After the fight, which Resto won on decision, Billy’s father shook Resto’s hand and noticed there wasn’t much padding in his gl...
