‘Tyson’ makes successful second title defence
Hernan ‘Tyson’ Marquez stunned Luis Concepcion along with a
packed crowd the Centro de Usos Multiples in Sonora as he put the former
champion down three times in the first round to retain his WBA flyweight title.
The fight was taking to same shape as their ‘Fight of the
Year’ contender in April this year in the first minute until a beautiful
combination by the 23 year-old champion rocked the Panamanian challenger and ‘El
Nica’ never fully recovered.
Marquez followed up the one two with another, putting
Concepcion the floor from which bounced straight back to his feet and may have
been more wise to have taken some time to clear his head.
The Mexican sensed his opportunity, pouncing straight on him
and due to his warrior spirit, Concepcion wanted to fire back and with his head
still cloudy, touched down again close to the ropes.
The end came shortly after as a short left hand laid the 26
year-old flat on his back leading to referee Rafael Ramos waving the fight off
and confirming Concepcion’s third career defeat.
The belt holder now improves to 32-2 with his 25th
stoppage and the manor of the loss may mean that we never get to see a third
fight between the pair who went toe-to-toe for twelve rounds earlier this year
in a classic bout.
