‘Raging Bull’ bows out following Rodriguez loss
Entertaining light-middleweight Pawel Wolak has decided to
hang up his gloves after 32 professional contests in seven years and just two
defeats.
The 30 year-old lost a one-sided decision to rival Delvin
Rodriguez at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, the first convincing loss of
his career and has now made the decision to retire.
The ‘Raging Bull’ became only the second man after Miguel
Cotto, to defeat former world champion Yuri Foreman earlier this year and was
on the verge of a world title shot before losing to Rodriguez.
He fought out a ‘Fight of the Year’ contender with the
Dominican in July after fighting for nine rounds with one eye and going
toe-to-toe for the remainder of the bout despite his injury.
New Jersy-based Pole Wolak, who has worked in construction
throughout his boxing career, always gave value for money to the fight fans and
will be sorely missed by all who appreciate the all-action style that
Wolak championed.
