Trainer sees welterweight clash as final bow for ‘Pacman’

Freddie Roach is of the belief that his star fighter Manny Pacquiao would step away from the ring after a meeting with Floyd Mayweather whatever the outcome if the pair agree to meet in May.

The trainer of the year sees the 32 year-old’s political career as a major factor in any decision meaning that the Filipino Congressman could potentially retire this year despite previously stating he would fight until 2013.

“He's really into politics and so forth and politics is going to take him away from boxing that's for sure," Roach told allvoices.com.

“Politics is something he wants to be good at. I feel if we do fight Mayweather, win or lose I think it will be his last fight,” he added.

Negotiations have either not even begun or are nearly complete for the welterweight unification contest depending on which reports you read and from which camp.

Top Rank and Golden Boy are believed to be in some dialogue though, but it could be weeks into to 2012 before anything official can be announced either way for the two-belt super-fight.
