Unbeaten heavyweight Robert Bruce and his team have responded to Kimbo Slice co-promoter Tom Holden's claim that they have never heard of Bruce, who had been tipped to oppose Kimbo on February 11th in Missouri.
Bruce, 29, had told WBN that Kimbo Slice pulled out of a potential clash next month and then proceeded to call out the UFC legend to give him a shot at taking away Kimbo's perfect professional record in his hometown.
Holden, who co-promotes Kimbo with Gary Shaw, then sent this statement to WBN outlining his thoughts on Bruce, which read: "Gary Shaw and I would like to respond to the story circulating on the internet regarding Kimbo Slice "pulling out" of a fight with Robert Bruce," stated Holden.
"Unfortunately when you have a fighter with Kimbo Slice's popularity there are people who will attempt to gain publicity by making outrageous statements.
"Kimbo did not pull out of a fight with Mr. Bruce because no fight with Robert Bruce was ever made. Until reading the story I have never even heard of the guy and neither had Kimbo. We certainly never agreed to a fight wih him.
"We are currently looking at several options for Kimbo's next fight and will make an announcement shortly."
Team Bruce have now answered back with what they say is the contract for the fight that was given to them in regards to accepting the contest on February 11th and which they say was then taken away when Kimbo's promoter's saw their fighter go the distance with Charles Hackmann in his last fight.
“The Bruce camp feels that Kimbo chose a formidable opponent without realising it and now knows that he bit off more than he can chew. So with that said, Robert “Hands of Stone“Bruce is now calling Kimbo out," stated Bruce camp member Jose Lopez.
Here is parts of what the Bruce camp say is the contract the recieved from Kimbo's promoters:
