Attorney successfully postpones incarceration

WBC champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has asked for his 90-day
prison term to be postponed until June 1st on the day he was
expected to surrender himself to a Las Vegas court to serve his sentence.
The 34 year was set to begin the time handed down to
him by Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa today although his attorney
pleaded with Saragosa to allow Mayweather to fight on May 5th at the
MGM Grand.
The judge then sensationally agreed to Mayweather’s request granted that
he fulfils all his counselling duties in regards to the misdemeanours that lead
to the original sentence in his case.
‘Money’ is now free to pursue a fight with Manny Pacquiao
for the date in question and is then scheduled to start his term after any potential
title defence on June 1st 2012.
Mayweather's main argument was that a fight on May 5th, possibly against Pacquiao, could generate up to $100million dollars for the city and hopefully will mean that the fight everyone wants can kick-start negotiations.
Whatever happens though, the five-weight world champion will fight at the MGM Grand this summer before reporting back to begin his three-month incarceration.
