Filipino’s hopes of Mayweather clash diminish
WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao looks likely to
fight for the 60th time in his career on June 9th after
an admission from promoter Bob Arum that a mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather is
more likely to happen in November.
The 33 year-old Congressman has campaigned in recent weeks
to get a fight with the American five-weight world champion made this year - but
will seemingly have to wait until later in the year to get his wish.
Mayweather, 34, is unable to severe ties with the May 5th
date which has been deemed unworkable and dismissed by promoter Bob Arum, who believes he can
make up to $30million more by holding the fight four to six weeks later at an
alternative venue.
Pacquiao has now been pencilled in to fight in June by Arum
and with Mayweather due to start a 90-day prison term on June 1st,
fight fans are set to be left disappointed once again, even though both fighters
have gone on record to say they want the fight sealed.
