Missouri’s undefeated heavyweight Robert Bruce has told
World Boxing News that former MMA star and street-fighting legend Kimbo Slice
has rejected him as his next opponent without explanation.
The two unbeaten fighters are due to meet on Bruce’s home
soil at the O’Reilly Center in Springfield on February 11th in what
would be Slice’s fourth professional contest following three straight
victories.
The 29 year-old has now claimed that Slice, real name Kevin
Ferguson, along with his promoters, are looking for easy fights to boost the
Bahamian-born brawler’s record in the wake of his first decision victory over
Charles Hackmann last weekend.
“I was looking forward to the fight,” Bruce told World
Boxing News.
“My camp figured that Kimbo Slice would have been a good
opportunity for me to get back in the ring and now I feel like they are trying to
pad his record.”
"I still want the chance and I am ready to fight next month."

Bruce has been away from boxing since scoring two straight
knockouts between November 2006 and February 2007, both of which came in the
second round and is still hoping that promoter Gary Shaw will put the fight
back on so he can be given to opportunity to become the first boxer to defeat
the fight legend.
