‘Babyfaced Assassin’ open to offers
Mexican fight legend Marco Antonio Barrera appeared on Sky
Sports’ Ringside show tonight, alongside Glenn McCrory, Adam Smith and Johnny
Nelson to discuss his possible future plans.
Barrera, 38, is in the UK as part of a media tour and host Smith
asked the three-weight world champion whether there was a possibility of him
fighting arch-rival Erik Morales for a fourth time after two wins and a draw
against the current WBC light-welterweight champion.
“Why not? I have asked my mother please, just once more give
me the opportunity for one fight more, but I can wait," joked Barrera.
The two last fought in 2004 in a rubber-match won by Barrera
at super-featherweight and the two have steadily risen up the weights since
then with partial success.
Barrera, who has been out of the ring over a year, has fought three out of his last four bouts at 140lbs but seemed open to moving back down to lightweight to meet Britain’s WBO champion Ricky Burns when pressed by Smith.

“Oh my god, I have more jobs (offers) now than I had before.
Yeah, maybe,” said Barrera, who will head back to Mexico soon and a possible return to the ring in the summer.
