Thai legend halted in the sixth by Sonny Boy
WBN Pound for pound number four ranked Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
suffered only his second loss in sixteen years when Filipino Sonny Boy Jaro
stopped the WBC flyweight belt holder in Chonburi, Thaliand.
The 34 year-old seemed to have aged almost overnight as he
never got in the fight and was put down in the first, third and sixth rounds
before the referee called a halt to the bout with Wonjongkam in no position to
continue.
Rizal-based Jaro, 29, who had ten losses on his record in 48
bouts going into the fight, went into the bout an overwhelming underdog but is
now a world champion for the first time after two failed attempts previously.
