‘The Real McCoy’ returns from six-year absence
Former WBO super-featherweight champion Scott Harrison is
pencilled in to fight for the first time since late 2005 on the undercard of
Brian Rose’s British light-middleweight title defence against Max Maxwell on
March 31.
The probable six-round bout will take place at the Winter
Gardens in Blackpool and will be the Glasgow-based fighter’s first professional
contest under new promoter Frank Maloney.
The 34 year-old, who will return to campaign at his former
weight of 130lbs, is aiming to regain the world title later in 2012 after
holding the WBO belt in two spells between 2002 and 2005.
"A couple of fights to get rid of the ring rust and
I'll be ready. It is a lot to ask,” Harrison told The BBC in a recent interview.
"But I feel 100% it is going to happen that I will be
world champion. I will be a lot more dangerous, because a hungry fighter is a
dangerous fighter."
Harrison also revealed plans to fight again in June, before
a possible world shot in September and will look to improve his record of
25-2-2 beginning with his trip to Lancashire at the end of the month.
