British champion may face problems after rant
Tyson Fury is aiming to do some ‘serious damage’ to
challenger Neven Pajkic when he defends his Commonwealth heavyweight title for
the first time on Saturday night in Manchester.
The 23 year-old has claimed that the Canadian champion has
been derogatory to his family in the build-up to the fight and is planning a devastating
performance after Pajkic, 34, vowed to ignore the press until he knocks out the
double title holder.
"I know this is terrible and I shouldn't say it, but
I'm in the mode to do serious damage,” Fury told The Observer.
“When I go in there I'm trying to put my fist through the
back of his head. I'm trying to break his ribs and make them stick out the
other side. I don't like this kid. This kid has said some terrible
things."
The Manchester-based fighter was referring to a war of words
between the pair that began when Fury appeared on Canadian TV to slate one of
Pajkic’s previous victorious and the feud is now threatening to spiral out of
control when the two collide this weekend.
"I went on national TV in Canada and said exactly what
I thought of Pajkic," said Fury.
"I'd watched his fight and thought it was rubbish. From
there it went really personal. He started calling me and my family names.”
Both fighters are currently undefeated in sixteen fights
with sixteen stoppages between them, with the winner in with a chance of
fighting for a world title in 2012.
Fury v Pajkic is live on Channel 5 this Saturday from 9.45pm and in
Canada on SuperChannel from 4.45pm (EST).
