Pacman chased after Marquez performance
WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao’s latest defence of
his title has seen the chances of him sharing the ring with WBC belt holder
Floyd Mayweather increase dramatically over the past month.
With a prospective offer from Mayweather on the table for a
May date at the MGM Grand, both sides have since admitted to talks and it seems
that only one person yet to confirm the possibility of a bout is Top Rank boss
Bob Arum - who has been accusing of stalling.
Mayweather, 34, is keener that ever to get a super-fight
with the Filipino signed after seeing his twelve round showing against Juan
Manuel Marquez and Pacquiao seems to have reciprocated the American’s advances
for what will be the richest fight in history.
It may not be wise though for a lot of respected people in
boxing to write off the 32 year-old Congressman on the back of one damaging
performance against a man he has struggled against before and a contest with
Mayweather could bring out the best of the ‘Pacman’ if signed in the coming weeks.
One thing is for certain and that is the unification
match-up will be the most promoted bout as well as the richest of all time and
with the recent controversies in the game, let’s home it lives up to the
expectations if confirmed for May.
