Joseph Agbeko talks Don King split, open to TMT Promotions move

‘King Kong’ lines up October return

Former bantamweight world champion Joseph Agbeko is set to lace up his gloves for the first time in almost a year as a turbulent few months out of the ring with legal issues kept him from fighting.

Agbeko, 32, has been involved in a purse dispute with former promoter Don King and is now on the lookout for some new representation with a fight in October on the forefront of the US-based Ghanaian’s mind.

“I am a free agent and I can fly like a bird right now. My duty is to fight and my lawyers will take care of the rest,” Agbeko told World Boxing News.

“I will definately sign with one of the best promoters very soon and I can’t wait to get back into the ring.”

Asked whether a move to 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather’s newly-formed The Money Team Promotions would interest him, Agbeko answered: “I don’t have problem signing with TMT Promotions. I believe they have great plans for boxing.

“I will go for whoever gives me the right deal and the right fights. I want to fight the best fighters in my division and will probably be back by October.

“I am going to fight at 122 pounds. That’s where the big fights are and I want to fight the best.

“The only fight that I would go back to 118lbs for is Anselmo Moreno to go for the Ring belt.

“Nonito Donaire, Abner Mares and Guillermo Rigodeaux are on my list at 122lbs."

Rico Ramos captures world super- bantamweight title with KO

Jay WBN Editor ‘Suavecito’ scores 20th straight win over Shimoda Undefeated Californian Rico Ramos produced a world-class left hand in the seventh round of his WBA title challenge against Japan’s Akifumi Shimoda to rip the belt away from the older southpaw in his first defence. The 24 year-old looked far from a world champion in the first five rounds, only gaining a foothold in the fight in round six, but ultimately produced the equalizer in the seventh to take the crown. Shimoda, 26, will be furious with himself as he bossed the majority of the fight and was up five rounds to one on my card going into the seventh round. One lapse in concentration with only thirty seconds left in round seven and Shimoda hit the canvas. Private invegstigator: Arturo Gatti death clearly not suicide

Jay  WBN Editor An investigator hired by boxing legend Arturo Gatti’s manager Pat Lynch have given his verdict after a thorough investigation into the death of the two-weight world champion, who died in Brazil in 2009. Chicago-based P.I Paul Ciolino has put his findings into a detailed report, which will be released on August 30 th , but gave his opinion to New Jesery-based newspaper The Jersey Journal  after a ten-month operation. Gatti died aged 37 whilst on holiday with his wife Amanda Rodrigues and his young son in north east Brazil and after an investigation by the Brazilian authorities was deemed a suicide. Brazilian police had said that the exciting prize fighter was drunk and depressed and used his wife’s purse strap to hang himself whilst his wife and son slept upstairs, which Ciolino totally disagrees with.
