“When he decides to turn pro, he will be a great pro,” said Lewis. “But his next move is to relax, there is no rush for anything.”

Heavyweight prospect won’t be turned by money
Olympic super-heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has stated
that he is looking to improve as a fighter in the amateurs before shaking
off the head guard and entering the paid ranks.
The 22 year-old from London claimed the biggest prize at his
home games on Sunday and was instantly linked with a professional move. Joshua
has been quick to deny the rumours though and has set his sights on ruling in amateur competition for the immediate future.
“I want to dominate everyone and become world champion and
European champion. I’d really love to do that and experience is the key for me.
More tournaments mean I’ll improve as a fighter,” Joshua told The Guardian.
“It was never about the money in boxing and that’s still the
same. My main aim is about improving as a boxer. I need to stay in the amateur
game and keep improving. That’s where my head is.
“It’s not always about the money. Money does help and,
thanks to UK Sport’s backing, that’s the most money I’ve seen in a long time.
I’m happy with that. I don’t want to lose that just because of a bit of money
thrown in my face.”
Three-time world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has
agreed with Joshua’s plans for the future and believes that the young Briton
has plenty of time to weigh-up his options before considering a run as a
professional.
“When he decides to turn pro, he will be a great pro,” said Lewis. “But his next move is to relax, there is no rush for anything.”
