Manager admits light-middleweight champ is 147lber
Larry Ekundayo is to become a welcome addition to the
welterweight ranks following his dominant win at York Hall in the Prizefighter –
The Light-Middleweights III tournament.
The 30 year-old, who boosted his record to 5-0 on the night
to take a £34,000 prize, is set to be in the mix with the best of British at
147lbs, according to his beaming manager Spencer Fearon after his victory.
“I am so happy Larry got the chance to showcase his talent,”
Fearon told Sky Sports.
“I have been telling people about him for ages. I have been
harassing Eddie Hearn (for the chance).
“We had to take it (this Pizefighter opportunity), but he’s
actually a welterweight so he’s going to drop back down to welterweight and we
are going to do great things man, trust me.
“Hopefully we can do it on Sky Sports and you guys can see
this kid gleam.”
Ekundayo impressed all with his style and range of punches
as he defeated Craig McEwan, Kris Carslaw and Terry Carruthers to take the
trophy and move on to much bigger thing in 2013 on the British scene.
