‘Zurdo’ remains on course for world title challenge
Mexican Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez, who was named the ‘WBN
Prospect of 2012’ late last year, improved to 22-0 with his 19th stoppage last
night and retained his WBC Youth middleweight belt in the process in Mexico.
The tall southpaw, who has bulldozed his way through his record
in less than three years, took out Isaac Mendez in the eighth round of a
one-side contest and is abundantly ready to step up to a higher level of
opponent.
Sanchez looks nailed on to challenging for a world belt in
2013 and after following WBN’s previous winner of the award, compatriot Saul
Alvarez, and the Mazatlan fighter could well be Mexico’s next superstar in the
making.
