WBO title rematch off the table

Timothy Bradley will not get the chance to clarify his controversial victory over Manny Pacquiao this year as the Filipino is set to fight Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth time on December 8 in Las Vegas.

The 29 year-old, who ripped away Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight belt in June in one of the most talked about split decisions of recent years, had hoped to set-up the return on the back of his summer success.

The Californian now faces a tough job in making a fight for his first defence before the end of the year after being left in limbo by the eight-weight champion, who now faces off against his Mexican rival at the MGM Grand.

“I can't believe these guys,” Bradley told The Desert Sun.

“He didn't want any part of me. Marquez is an easier fight. He knows that a fight with me and two good legs is going to be hell.

“I can't believe it. Any champion who lost his belt, you would want to redeem yourself.”

Pacquiao, 33, is thought to have been helped to his decision by promoter Bob Arum as the numbers for his fights with ‘Dinamita’ largely out-weighed his PPV figures for the Bradley fight, and the two are set to line-up at a press conference on Tuesday to formally announce the fight.
