‘Sugar Shay’ continues winning run
A rejuvenated Ishe Smith scored his third win on the bounce
with a straight-forward ten-round points win over Irving Garcia at the Hard
Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 34 year-old, who recently signed with Mayweather
Promotions, improved his record to 24-5 with the unanimous victory after cruising
to a 100-89 (twice) and 99-90 decision on the scorecards.
Smith looked to be in for an early night after putting the
Puerto Rican on the floor in the opening session, but never put a foot wrong
for the remaining nine rounds to record his second win in three months.
The former Contender star is looking to punch his way into
the top ten in the world in preparation for what ‘Sugar Shay’ hopes will be his
first world title shot in the next twelve months and promoter Mayweather has
kept good on his promise to keep him busy.
Garcia, 33, in contrast, has now lost his last five fights and drops to
17-8-3.
