Ex-British champ faces Christian Hammer
One-time world heavyweight title challenger and former Mike
Tyson conqueror Danny Williams will hope to end a run of two straight defeats
when he lines up against Romanian-born German Christian Hammer on Friday night in Goettingen, Germany.
The 39 year-old, who’s best days left him in 2006, had his
British boxing license revoked in 2010, but has continued to fight on with a Latvian
license and will use that avenue once again at the Sparkassen Arena.
Williams has suffered losses to Leif Larson (TKO 2) and Janne
Katajisto (UD) in the past twelve months since a low-key win against
veteran Alfred Cole and has been stopped three times in just over two years.
‘The Brixton Bomber’ is showing no signs of slowing down though as
he settles into his 40th year, although another knockout loss for the Londoner will
hopefully bring Williams to his senses before the decision to retire is taken
out of his hands.
