Ugandan ready to step up for belt challenge
There is a lion waiting to roar later this year as
undefeated lightweight Sharif Bogere nears the confirmation of a WBA title challenge against interim belt holder Richard Abril.
The 23 year-old has 15 stoppages on a perfect 23-fight
record to date, with five of his last seven outings ending before the end of
the third round and Bogere is hoping to be given the news of his championship test
soon.
“Right now I am just waiting to hear the date, which might
probably be a round November,” Bogere told World Boxing News.
“The fight will be for the full WBA title and I am just
waiting for the go from my bosses at Golden Boy.”
Bogere has apparently jumped ahead of Gavin Rees in the
queue to face Abril as the two failed to agree on a potential fight and the
Ugandan denied that there was any chance of him travelling to the UK to fight
the Welshman instead.
“I haven't had any offers to fight in England, but I would
like that someday, when the offer comes.
“I can't predict what will happen in the future. Only God knows better, but in the
next twelve months, I see doing great things in boxing.
“Are there any top champion fighters who want to fight me?
I've called out everybody, but non take the fight!”
On a possible move up the weights, Bogere added: “I am planning
on moving up in future, but first I have got to take one step at a time. But the
Lion is coming ROARRRR!”
