Hatton and BBBC hold informal boxing licence talks

Wheels in motion for November comeback

Ricky Hatton has taken another step towards a ring return by holding informal discussions with the British Boxing Board of Control about the possibility of regaining his boxing licence, according to The Daily Mail.

The 33 year-old was fined and lost his licence on the back of sensational reports in the tabloids about his lifestyle two-years ago, although the BBBC are not expected to stand in way as he looks to make a comeback.

A touted November 24 bout after three years out of the ring could be announced as early as next week and tickets for the event are sure to be in high demand for what will be the most eagerly-anticipated comeback in British boxing.

Hard-working Hatton has shed three stones so far as he boils down to a fighting weight, which is expected to be at the 147lb welterweight limit for his first bout since his crushing loss to Manny Pacquiao in 2009.

Jay WBN Editor ‘Suavecito’ scores 20th straight win over Shimoda Undefeated Californian Rico Ramos produced a world-class left hand in the seventh round of his WBA title challenge against Japan’s Akifumi Shimoda to rip the belt away from the older southpaw in his first defence. The 24 year-old looked far from a world champion in the first five rounds, only gaining a foothold in the fight in round six, but ultimately produced the equalizer in the seventh to take the crown. Shimoda, 26, will be furious with himself as he bossed the majority of the fight and was up five rounds to one on my card going into the seventh round. One lapse in concentration with only thirty seconds left in round seven and Shimoda hit the canvas.
