Tyson Fury has once again stated that he has no desire to travel to Germany or the USA to win world titles and want to bring one of the Klitschko brothers to England in the next twelve months.

The 24 year-old, who lifted the Irish title in his last contest, feels close to challenging for a world title after racking up 18 straight victories and sees 2013 as the year for him to realise his boxing dream of being world champion.

“I could have fought the Klitschkos already,” Fury told The Daily Star. “We’ve been offered the fight a few times. When I beat Dereck Chisora, Wladimir and Vitali said, ‘We’ll take the winner of these two’.

“But I just wasn’t ready and I wouldn’t rush for a payday. But by Christmas I should be mandatory for the WBC title. Nobody’s going to get in my way of winning the world title.”

One the current crop of heavyweights, Fury added: “There’s nobody for the Klitschkos really, just me.

“I don’t rate the Americans, like Seth Mitchell and Deontay Wilder. I’d like to fight those two but it makes no sense just now to fight ten- rounders. When I win the world title I’ll defend it against whoever but I don’t want to waste rounds now.”

The former British and Commonwealth title holder also dismissed a big night in Las Vegas in the future and hopes to bring a huge heavyweight world title fight to the UK instead.

“I’m not interested in Vegas, I’d like to fight in England. Either at Old Trafford or some big stadium like that against one of the Klitschkos. To fight at Old Trafford is a big dream. I’d love to have Wayne Rooney carrying my belt in, definitely,” he added.

Jay WBN Editor (picure by boxrec.com) After almost a year and a half without one of boxing’s great journeymen, World Boxing News is looking back at the 161-fight career of Worcestershire warrior Ernie Smith, concentrating on his contribution in the ring, rather than the tragic way his life ended out of it. Smith turned professional at super-featherweight in 1998 at the Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton, losing a six rounder against Welshman Woody Greenaway.  One month later, Ernie was thrown in with an unknown prospect by the name of Gavin Rees (former world champion and current British Lightweight Champion) who he also took the distance over four rounds. The “Gypsy Boy” then managed to string together a four fight unbeaten run together in early 1999 and ended the year winning five out of his twelve contests, but by this time had already delved into the journeyman pool of boxers with a record of 5-8-1. After settling at the welterweight limit, Ernie gained a su
